Segar Road musings

Its been another busy week. We managed to finish moving in, deal with a roach problem left by our tenants (sort of) and work a bit, too. Right now my biggest battle is how to get the clothes dry when it keeps raining. Dryers aren't very common here. And when you hang the clothes outside in the designated areas, other people's clothes just drip on top of yours.

Last night I broke the monotony of going between the house-new flat-house-new flat in an endless cycle of moving. It was refreshing to go to town to enjoy an evening out. We went to this food court that has all different kinds of food and I got pizza and Ravi got Indian food. The joys of Singapore: all shall be fed in the way they are accustomed! We also ran into Dad in town (my father-in-law) which was funny cause I'm so used to seeing him only at home.

Then I went to see the movie "Crash" which I really liked, about all these different racial interactions and incidents in LA and how they got dealt with. It was a number of stories that interwove in this action-reaction theme, and I really enjoyed it. Karma and dharma and how you live your life with other people not from your culture and race. Unfortunately, decent movies like this only come along once in a while in between the horror movies, romantic comedies and action blockbusters.

Today I'm planning to work in the morning and take a break in the afternoon. I've roped in my friend Amrit Kaur to go hiking with me tomorrow afternoon, which should be fun...if it doesn't rain.

Ravi's gone off to teach his Saturday morning class at Bayshore (this condo where our friend Ash lives). He'll be teaching Kundalini Yoga and then he's got all kinds of meetings all day.

That's it for today's updates. Sat Nam.
Humbly, Guru Jaswant K. AKA JAY
