Khoj - Punjabi play
Last night we went to see a play - in Punjabi - at the Victoria Theatre. It was actually really well done and the cast put a lot of energy into it. It was a story about 3 Punjabi families in modern day Singapore and their problems. The funny thing was that it was billed to run from 7:30 - 9:30 pm. Well guess what?! It ended at 11:30! Typical Sikh timing around here! Anyway, after that we were supposed to go eat but everyone was too tired to figure anything out, so in the end we just headed home.
I liked the play because it represented our community in an art form. It wasn't just the everyday activity of going out to eat or going to the movies. It was an effort at trying to do something different and it also showcased the Punjabi culture to a larger audience. Basically all the Sikhs we know in Singapore showed up too.
Today we're going to take it easy. I'm trying to entice Ravi to go swimming...so we'll see what happens.
